Sponge Bob tribute

Without any political reason

19 September 2010

Why a cartoon character can not be political ?
I wanted to try this mix since long time. It's why I have made the famous Sponge Bob on an old communist poster from WWII. The style come from Shepard Fairey, who know how to renew the propaganda style. Nobody thinks he was communist, now many people have some doubts.

Sponge Bob during the WWII, as a communist !

So serious (for once).

Yes, this is Sponge Bob.

The red planes in the background are important to contrast the picture.

At the start, every technology was made to help

14 August 2010

If we watch every technology, they were made for help and evolve the world. But if it became popular it's for bad reasons. I illustrate this with television (the big troyen), mobile (to say nothing interresting), internet (procratination world) and blogs (narcissic webpages).
For sure you'll recognise your-self.

Mobile phone
Do you use your phone to get help or to say "LOL" to your friends ?

Internet
Fortunately, WikiPedia is the fifth most visited site.

Blogs
A blog to talk about what ?

Television
TELEVISION! RULES THE NATION! (cf. Daft Punk)

Ed Banger xx Gorillaz

The visual part of one, the style of the other.

05 July 2010

Gorillaz and Ed Banger records are musical movements I like. Jamie Hewlett is the drawer of the Gorillaz characters, and his work fascinates me, he created a real universe around this band. As I know myself, drawing character is not my cup of tea but I wanted to make this challenge: draw some characters of Ed Banger. At the start I wanted to recreate "la cene" of Da Vinci. But somebody did it before me : argg!! (by the way it's SO_ME, Ed Rec Artistic Director, himself who told me that!). So I've search a good way to do my project and finally I've kept the Gorillaz style.
At the end, the result is much better than the start idea.

The dream team...

Xavier De Rosney (Justice member)

SO_ME / Bertrand de Langeron (Ed Banger Designer)

Uffie : POP THE GLOCK!

Flat Eric (a MrOizo puppet)

And finally the master Busy-P (aka. Pedro Winter)

maxwellito.com

the genesis, first version

01 January 2010

After five thousand lines of code, four months and too many gallons of coffee: maxwellito.com is online!
End of 2009, I had the idea to make my own website, a simple place to put all my creations. At this moment my 'web skills' were pretty bad, but I was good in ActionScript 3. So I don't really had the choice: maxwellito.com was going to be in full-Flash. This also was my hidden goal of the website: show what I'm able to do in AS3.
This version has been online during three years.

Freedom Record sticker

Print. Stick. Listen.

30 November 2009

End of 2009, my friend Remy Roches, owner a podcast about electronic music, talk to me about the idea to make stickers to promote his website. But he asked me make the design, of course I couldn't refuse. The idea to have one of my creation printed in one thousand copy, it's really exciting. Ok, today print stickers is cheap and easy to do, but it's enough to make me happy. After two or three mockup, the design was accepted.
This was my first print, and it was interesting to work with print conditions. For information, the podcast closed in 2012 for an other project called The Loop.
Once again, thanks Remy.

Final model.

Once printed.

Another model which wasn't picked up, so colorless !!

‘‘Having your creation on stickers, it's a pretty amazing sensation.’’
